Judge Burgess was appointed to the 352nd District Court by Governor Greg Abbott because of his keen legal mind, unwavering conservative principles and commitment to public service. Prior to serving as Judge, he served as Assistant US Attorney where he successfully prosecuted many high profile cases including the murder-for-hire conspiracy involving the public slaying in Southlake of an attorney for a Mexican drug cartel.

Decorated veteran & patriot.

Judge Burgess was commissioned as an officer with the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps in 1997 and reenlisted after the terrorists attacks of 9/11.  His assignments included Sheppard Air Force base, serving as the sole attorney for an allied base in Kyrgyzstan, and being assigned to the US base in Lakenheath, UK where he served as Chief of Military Justice and Deputy Staff Advocate. After 7 years of decorated service, Judge Burgess retired with the rank of Major.

 

Devoted family man & Christian.

Judge Josh and Amy Burgess are the proud parents of two children and attend Christ Chapel Bible Church. Their children attend Covenant Classical School in Ft. Worth where the Judge coached the mock trial team to three 3rd place finishes in Texas state competition. Judge Burgess graduated cum laude from Biola University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, and from Washington and Lee University School of Law.
